POLITICAL DREAMLAND

        It’s been a long time coming, but now we know that the mean spiritedness that characterizes Republicans is so deeply rooted that it continues into their dreams. Many of them certainly do seem such a dour lot whose only real joy is trying to prevent others from having any fun.

        But now it is authenticated by science -- the kind of irrefutable science that cannot be “refuted.” Like, for instance, the unsubstantiated science that the “Aunti’s” have put forth claiming that abortions cause cancer and all sorts of other physical and mental problems.

        "Republicans are nearly three times as likely as Democrats to experience nightmares when they dream," Kelly Bulkeley, who teaches at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Calif., claims in findings to be released Wednesday at the 18th Annual International Conference of the Association for the Study of Dreams in Santa Cruz. "Half of the dreams of Republicans in my study were classified as nightmares, compared to only about 18 percent of the dreams of Democrats," Bulkeley reports.

        …Sleeping Republicans also inhabit scarier dreamlands, according to Bulkeley who is former president of the Association for the Study of Dreams and author of The Wilderness of Dreams, An Introduction to the Psychology of Dreaming. Aggression, misfortune, and physical threats characterize Republican nightmares, while familiar settings and friendly characters populate the kinder, gentler bad dreams of Democrats. Bulkeley also claims Democratic nightmares are tempered by the very principals Democrats claim to espouse -- hope, power, and positive action.         Now back to reality. There is more substantial scientific data that has just been released which shows that there IS danger to a woman who has a natural childbirth following a Caesarian section. Well, duh! Women have known that for ages. You go slashing into a uterus and by golly the chances are it is going to weaken the walls of that structure, fantastic as it is. It never concerns the so-called pro-lifers since women’s lives mean little to them. They only consider the fetus.

        It is very important that these findings be loudly publicized. This is because the lifers have widely claimed that late term abortions are not necessary to save a woman’s life because she can always have a Caesarian section WITH NO HARMFUL AFFECT ON FUTURE NATURAL BIRTHS. Spread the word. Choke their big lie right down their throats.

        The dream science reported above might be just more bushwa like the stuff we are continually getting from the White House. Now they propose legislation to insure “the unborn child.” That would give a zygote human status and thereby take family planning from the woman’s control and assign it to the government. Insuring poverty-level women through their feti is one hell of a sleazy way to take over control of women and their reproductive rights. But by now we should be aware of how this administration masks its true intentions.

        Just as in the following example of their “compassionate” conservatism. The administration made a secret deal with The Salvation Army. It agreed to allow them immunity to state laws that prevent discriminating against gays in hiring practices in exchange for the SA’s support of the faith-based initiative. This is another very stinking piece of offal from the Offal Office. Don’t think for a minute that it will be the last.

        Moving quickly from the ridiculous to the sublime, we were pleased with the many comments on our last article "Macho Mystique." In it, we had attributed, tongue in cheek, Gary Bauer’s attitude of superiority to: “After all, his God made him in his image and made him superior to women. “ Thanks to LB for this hilarious one liner response: “what a thought: that God could possibly look or be anything like Gary Bauer!”
