| So, you think
that those Constitutional Amendments and all the other laws that ostensibly
gave us equal human rights and abolished slavery are worth a tinker's dam?
Did you believe your rights as a human
being are protected by law and cannot be denied? Do you think Roe v. Wade
insures your right to a legal abortion?
THINK AGAIN!
Wilkes-Barre, PA After
a hearing in court today, a Pennsylvania judge blocked a woman from exercising
her legal right to choose abortion, in complete disregard of legal precedent.
The woman was scheduled to obtain an abortion yesterday until her former
boyfriend filed a lawsuit to force her to carry the pregnancy to term and
the judge agreed to an injunction pending today's hearing. Judge Michael
Conahan of Luzerne County is requiring attorneys to submit additional legal
papers this Monday, thereby extending the length of her pregnancy. He indicated
that there is no guarantee the injunction will be dissolved at that time.

There is no federal or state law that prohibits
an adult woman from terminating her pregnancy. Judge Conahan is following
church law instead of state and federal law.
Church law has always considered woman
and the contents of her womb as THE PROPERTY of man.
This is what we can expect under the Bush
regime that is dedicated to destroying the separation of church and state.
This is why responsible lawmakers in the Senate are screening his judicial
appointments so carefully.
[Tanya Meyers], 22 and
the mother of a two-year-old considered all of her options before making
the decision to terminate the pregnancy. Her former boyfriend, John Stachokus,
repeatedly threatened her physical safety and as a result she successfully
obtained a Temporary Protection from Abuse Order on July 29, 2002.
[ibid]
From this vomitorious treatment by Judge
Conahan and all the other atrocities that have gone unreported by the media,
we all must understand that we can no longer rely on laws that promise
REPRODUCTIVE CHOICE or EQUAL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW.
At this writing we do still have the choice
to vote. Democrats now have only a Majority of ONE in the Senate. The Judicial
Committee is holding the line for us against Bush's church approved judges.
Just
check your newspapers and TV for the latest story of violence against women.
It is endemic from the recent horror in Texas to the murder of women in
your own state to the murder of three military wives at Fort Bragg and
beyond.
It's
open season on women because the Bush administration has broadcasted its
church based attitude against women worldwide. Women can no longer rest
on their so-called hard won reproductive rights or their right not to be
abused and battered or their right to their own bodies.
